Walking through Milan, you traverse centuries in a matter of steps - a Gothic cathedral overlooking a modern piazza, Renaissance courtyards hidden behind storefronts, and luxury cars on display in practically every direction you walk.
Milan's Duomo itself embodies this timeless nature. Started in 1386 and completed only in the 20th century, it absorbed six centuries of changing styles and regimes. Endurance is not only resistance. It involves absorption. Survival requires adaptation. To change is to persist. A building can be restored to its former glory, and a city can reinvent itself -- so can we. Permanence does not mean sameness. Milan proves it.
