"Freedom is the only worthy goal in life. It is won by disregarding things that lie beyond our control." - Epictetus, Discourses

Freedom is not found in escape. It’s not about doing whatever you want. It’s about no longer being ruled by what you can’t control.

The Stoics teach us that external events - fortune, status, the approval of others - are never truly ours. To tie our happiness to them is to put ourselves in chains.

Do you want to be free? Then let go of needing everything to go your way. Let go of needing people to understand you, praise you, or agree with you.

Disregard what lies beyond your reach. Focus on what is always yours: your character, your judgment, your effort.

This is not indifference. It’s independence.

Freedom doesn’t mean floating through life untouched. It means walking through the world with unshakable peace, because your self-worth is built on something stable.

Control what you can. Release what you can’t. That is the only kind of freedom that lasts.

The Stoic approach is simple: pause. Examine the story you’re telling yourself. Ask, "Is this happening - or am I just imagining it?"
